Today's bond issue vote is an opportunity for Minot residents to let their voices be heard on an important decision regarding the future direction of the Minot Public School District.
If approved, the bond issue would give the district the authority to sell $125 million in bonds to finance the construction of a new elementary in southeast Minot, converting Central Campus into a middle school, building a second public high school in Minot and funding security upgrades at a number of district schools.
The importance of today's decision cannot be overstated, given the ongoing and constant discussion and disagreements over the details of the plan during the past months. Simply put, the issue has been the talk of the town for quite some time, and deservedly so. It is not a decision to be taken lightly, nor a decison that should be made without gathering as much accurate information as possible.
Today's vote is an opportunity to exercise your civic responsibility. We encourage eligible Minot residents to take a few minutes today and be part of the voting process.
