Jewell "Judy" Dockter, 96, formerly of Minot and Parshall, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013, in a Menahga, Minn., nursing home.

Jewell Pauline Corbett was born April 20, 1917, in Birch Tree, Mo., to Robert and Mary (Bachar) Corbett. She was reared and educated there and completed BirchTree High School in 1934.

Jewell married Raymond Dockter on Sept. 14, 1941, in Los Angeles. They made their home in California where she was employed as an aviation riveter for Douglas Aircraft. They moved to the Parshall area in 1946, where they farmed in Shell Township of Mountrail County for 52 years. In addition, they owned and operated Dockter's TV, Radio and Appliance Store in Parshall. They moved to Minot in 1989 but continued to farm until retirement in 1993. The love of Jewell's life, Raymond, died Aug. 4, 2004.

Jewell was a member of Bread of Life Lutheran Church in Minot and a former member of the Church of God and United Church of Christ in Parshall. She was an active church member and loved being a Sunday school teacher. She volunteered, with Ray, at UniMed Medical Center for more than 10 years. After moving to Menahga with her daughter, Lyn, and son-in-law, Rick, she became an active resident of the Green Pine Acres Nursing Home where she lived and flourished for six years. She was dearly loved by the staff there and made a lasting impact on all she touched with her bright, strong and appreciative spirit.
