Donovan Jensen, 78, Kenmare, passed away Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, at the Kenmare Community Hospital.

Donovan Martin Jensen was born Dec. 28, 1934, the son of Martin and Olga (Jensen) Jensen, on the Jensen family farm near Norma. He was raised on the family farm and educated at Rockford Township School. As a young adult, he worked construction for several years.

Donovan married Vallie Rosencrans on Aug. 17, 1958, at Zion Lutheran Church in Berthold. They made their home in Minot, Grand Forks, and later in Aurora, Minn., before returning to farm north of Norma in 1967. They farmed small grains until retiring in the late 1990s. Following his retirement, he continued to help his son on the farm.

He was a member of Evanger Lutheran Church, rural Norma. He served on the Rockford Township Board for many years.

Donovan enjoyed hunting and looking forward to his brother-in-law coming from Alaska to hunt with him each fall. He also enjoyed helping on the farm and visiting with family and friends. He especially loved spending time with his two granddaughters, going to their school activities, teaching them how to drive on the country roads and telling them stories.

His loving family includes: wife of 55 years, Vallie, Kenmare; sons, Ron (Marla) Jensen, Kenmare, and Richard Jensen, rural Norma; grandchildren, McKinzie and Marissa Jensen; brother, Duane (Aurice) Jensen, Yuma, Ariz.; sister, Dorothy Bauer, Bismarck; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Donovan was preceded in death by: his parents; infant son, Rodney; infant brother, LaVern; and brother-in-law, Robert Bauer.

Funeral: Wednesday, Nov. 27, at 11:30 a.m. at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare.

Interment: Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Norma.

Visitation: Wednesday, one hour prior to the service, at the church.
