Evelyn Carr

Evelyn E. Carr, 91, Minot, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, at her residence.

Evelyn was born on June 5, 1922, in Lincoln Valley, a daughter of Phillip and Emma (Ebehart) Gehring. She was reared and educated in Sheridan County. Evelyn married Ben Reiser in 1941 and they lived on a farm south of McClusky for a number of years before moving to Minot in 1953. Ben died in 1962. She continued to live in Minot, where she worked for National Tea Store from 1964 to 1969, until the store closed.

She married Paul Carr in Minot on Sept. 29, 1967. They moved to Seattle, where he worked at Boeing. They moved to Surrey in 1969, and purchased the Silver Spur. They also bought the gas station in Surrey and started Carr's RV Sales which they ran for many years until they retired.

They spent the winters in Arizona and California and sometimes in other states. Paul and Evelyn worked side by side for 40 years. They had a good time and good life together. Paul died on Feb. 27, 2008. When Paul died, it was never the same for Evelyn, he was her right hand, and her love for him never went away.

Evelyn was a baptized member of First Baptist Church in McClusky, being baptized in Brush Lake in 1952. She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot. Evelyn loved to be outdoors taking in the fresh air and sunshine. She couldn't wait for spring to come so she could start planting her favorite flowers. Her hobbies included cooking, crocheting, canning and making sausage. She really loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Evelyn is survived by: a son, Morrie (Sharon) Reiser, Minot; grandchildren, Kimberly (Timothy) Kuntz, Minot, Randy Reiser, Valley City, Laura Reiser, El Paso, Texas, and Todd Reiser, El Paso; four great-grandchildren, Tanner, Haley Kuntz, Samuel Kuntz and Emma Reiser; brothers and sisters, Raymond Gehring, living in California, Sally Larimore, Yakima, Wash., Esther Myers, Minot, and Ruby Merritt, Billings, Mont.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ben Reiser and Paul Carr; son, Larry Reiser; grandchild, Sara Reiser; brothers and sisters, Alice Larson, Art Gehring, Delbert Gehring, Marvin Gehring, Melvin Gehring, Marion Golly and Irene Nelson.

Funeral: Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Immanuel Baptist Church, Minot.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Monday, Nov. 11, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., at the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
