Lance Knaup, 36, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013, from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident.
Lance was born on Nov. 6, 1977, in Dickinson, a son of Ronald and Diane (Schmaltz) Knaup. He attended St. Joseph's Elementary School until 1988, when the family moved to Minot. He attended Little Flower Grade School and graduated from Bishop Ryan High School in Minot in 1996. He graduated from Minot State University in 2002 with a degree in elementary education. While attending Minot State University, he was employed at Budget Music and Video. After graduating, he taught and coached football at the New Town Public School. He was currently employed as the sales manager for Ryan Chevrolet in Minot.
Lance was a great son, brother, soul mate, father and friend. He influenced so many people in the short time he lived. His smile and sense of humor were infectious to others. He was a genuine person who could always put a smile on your face. He was very remarkable and touched many hearts.
While at Bishop Ryan, he was part of a state championship football team and a state wrestling placer. From a young age he became a Seahawks fan because of the one and only Brian Bosworth. He was a #1 fan through their good and bad. He never wavered and was very proud to be the Seahawk's 12th Man.
He met his love, Gina, in 2008. They built a wonderful life together, based on laughter and love. He always said that their love was "like two moo cows." They shared many special moments making a new home their own. His beautiful baby girl, Lola Beth, was born on Aug. 30, 2010. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his little bean. Their best times together were spent reading, singing songs, getting his toenails polished, feeding the geese at Oak Park and watching the Seahawks. Lance was grateful and excited to finally be daddy to a baby boy, to be born in December, to carry on the family name. He wanted to teach him how to wrestle, play football and read. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Lance will be missed by many, but the memories will remain forever.
