This view of the Missouri River is at the Tailrace at the Garrison Dam, west of Riverdale, shown on Nov. 2. At the right is reconstruction work being done on the West Tailrace Road. At the left is the powerhouse. The Garrison Dam was responsible for the creation of Lake Sakakawea, the third largest man-made lake in the United States. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers oversees management of the public lands and waters of the lake.
