John J. Bachmeier

John J. Bachmeier, 95, of Albany, Ore., passed away Thursday, Oct. 31, 2013, surrounded by family. He was born in Drake, the son of John Bachmeier Sr. and Margaret (Geisinger) Bachmeier.

John married Catherine Mack on July 4, 1940, in Drake. Together, they farmed and raised a large family. In 1957 they moved to Minot. John worked for Montana Natural Gas Co. and various second jobs until relocating to Albany in April 1959. In Albany he worked for Mark's Bakery, Carnation Milk Co., and Wah-Chang until he retired. After leaving Wah-Chang, John continued working for himself at what he truly enjoyed by fixing and renting old houses which he did up to his death.

John and Catherine were married until 1978. Catherine passed away Dec. 8, 2000. He later married Hattie Yoder. Hattie passed away Feb. 6, 2006.

Survivors: include a sister, Dorothy Hannon, Albany, Ore.; a brother, Milton Bachmeier, Anamoose; children, Doris Furmidge, Burbank, Calif., Adam Bachmeier, Daniel Bachmeier, Rose Bachmeier, Kenneth Bachmeier, all of Albany, Ronald Bachmeier, Halsey, Ore., Mary Farmer, John P. Bachmeier, Richard Bachmeier, Rene Bachmeier, all of Albany, Rodney Bachmeier, Prineville, Ore., Theresa Bachmeier, Palestine, Texas, and Robert Bachmeier, Albany; stepchildren, Pat Erstaard, Portland, Ore., Sandy Yoder, Woodland, Wash., Judy Jantzi, Albany, and Joan Landis, Lebanon, Ore.; and last, but not least, are 36 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. What a wonderful crew!

His funeral Mass will be Thursday, Nov. 7, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Albany.

A graveside service will follow at Willamette Memorial Park Cemetery, Albany.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Nov. 6, from 6 to 7 p.m. with rosary recitation at 7 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Home, Albany.
