Visitors to Roosevelt Park Zoo will see a new female calf when they trick-or-treat at Boo at the Zoo today, said curator Brandi Clark.
The unnamed calf was born Oct. 14 to Lena, the zoo's bison cow. The calf's father is named Ole. The adult bison were donated to the zoo by an area bison ranch in May.
"We're happy that the (bison calf) is doing so well," said Clark, who said the zoo staff hasn't yet decided how to name the calf. The bison are being kept in the bison pen on the north side of the zoo. About half of the zoo's animals are indoors due to the cold weather, but visitors can expect to see some other animals outside.
Boo at the Zoo will be held today from 1 to 4 p.m. and will include trick-or-treating and hay rides. Admission is $2 for zoo members and $3 for non-members.
