Lynn was a self-taught musician on the accordion and keyboard. He drove school bus for the Turtle Lake School District for 10 years. He enjoyed bowling with the men's league and mixed doubles. He was always active in his church, serving as trustee and deacon, and was a member of Young at Heart of Minot. He enjoyed woodworking and remodeling their homes.

After 50 years of farming they retired and moved to Minot. They celebrated their 65th anniversary in March of 2013.
