Ruth Guy Hostetter, 85, Kirkland, Wash., and formerly of Minot, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2013, in a Seattle hospital.

Ruth was born Feb. 9, 1928, in Minot, to Raymond and Rose (Swehla) Guy. She graduated from Minot High School in 1946 and attended the Bernell Beauty School in Minot before moving to Seattle where she worked as a beautician for many years. She was once married to Hillis Dennis.

Ruth was well known for her artistic ability. She was an active member of the Seattle Flower Arranging Guild and Garden Club and received many awards in city and state competitions. She had many hobbies and cake decorating was a favorite. Ruth decorated wedding and birthday cakes for all her relatives and friends.

Ruth was an active member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary. She had a vibrant personality that made life interesting and fun. She enjoyed coming "home" to Minot on Amtrak and attending her high school class reunions and made the trip at least once a year. Ruth was a very loving and caring person.

Ruth is survived by: her sons, Ryan (Demitra) Dennis, of Seattle, and Aaron (Denise) Dennis, of Blaine, Wash.; brother, Milton (Adeline) Guy, of Minot; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; niece, Lynn (Ron) Rogelstad, of Minot; nephews, Ray Guy, of Minot, Ron (Pam) Guy, of Minneapolis, Mark (Sheila) Guy, of Minot; several great-nephews; a great-niece and cousins.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents.

Public Book Signing: Wednesday, Oct. 23, from 3 to 5 p.m., in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.

Private Graveside Service: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Memorials are preferred to VFW Ladies Auxiliary Cancer Aid and Research or the donor's choice.
