Victor ‘Vic’ Bachmeier

Victor Bachmeier, 67, of Bottineau, died Tuesday, Oct. 1, at a Bottineau hospital. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m., in Nero Funeral Home, Bottineau. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, south of Mandan, on Monday, Oct. 7, at 2 p.m.

Victor Kasper Bachmeier, a son of Kasper K. and Albina (Heil) Bachmeier, was born Feb. 10, 1946, at Harvey. He was reared there and graduated from Harvey High School in 1964. On Nov. 2, 1965, he entered the Army. He served in Germany with the 1st Battalion, 70th Armor Regiment. He received his honorable discharge on Oct. 18, 1967.

He married Celi Graumann on Jan. 27, 1968, at Harvey. That same year, he began his career as lineman for Ottertail Power. They moved to Bottineau in 1975, where they had resided since. Vic retired in 2007 after 39 years.

Vic was a sports enthusiast. He participated in basketball, baseball, softball, golf and bowling. He was an avid fan of the NDSU Bison and the Minnesota Twins.

Vic was known as a jokester and there was never a dull moment when he was around. He had an infectious personality that made life interesting and fun. Vic's passion was to spend time with his grandchildren and he cherished every moment he spent with them. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew him.

He is survived by: his wife, Celi, of Bottineau; daughter, Bobbi (Donn) Milbrath, of Bottineau; son, Brad (Marcey) Bachmeier, of Spokane, Wash.; grandchildren, Taylor and Miranda Milbrath, of Bottineau, and Blake and Carley Bachmeier, of Spokane, Wash.; sisters, Lorraine (Wayne) Anderson, of Page, Peggy (Dennis) Ziegler, of Mandan; brother, Steve Bachmeier, of Harvey; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by two infant twin sons, Blaine and Blair.
