Ruth Streitz, 89, Minot, formerly of Foxholm, died Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013, at Trinity Hospital in Minot.

Ruth V. Geyer was born Dec. 26, 1923, the daughter of George and Blanche (Ward) Geyer, in Kenmare. She was raised on her parents' farm in Callahan Township of Renville County and attended a country school in the area.

Ruth married LeRoy J. Streitz on Dec. 29, 1943, in Minot. They rented a farm in Muskego Township in Renville County until LeRoy entered the U.S. Army. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, they moved to a farm in St. Mary's Township, Ward County, where they farmed for more than 40 years.

LeRoy passed away May 27, 1999. Following her husband's death, she continued to reside on the farm until April 2013, when she moved into Minot after breaking her hip.

She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Foxholm and its Confraternity of Christian Mothers group. She had participated in the life of the church for many years.

She enjoyed quiet walks on her farm, her favorite place to be, cooking, yard work and reading during the long winter months.

Surviving family includes: sons, Eugene (Penny) Streitz, Polson, Mont., and Philip (Mary Jane) Streitz, St. Louis, Mo.; daughter, Marsha Streitz, Minot; grandchildren, Matthew Streitz, Patrick Streitz, Mark Streitz, Luke Streitz, Cyndi Froehlich, Shannon Dahlberg and Tami Johnson; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Harvey (Janeta) Geyer, Minot; sister, Ione Johnson, Renton, Wash.; sister-in-law, Julia Geyer, Minot; brother-in-law, Donald (June) Streitz, Minot; and several stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Ruth was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, LeRoy; sister, Altha DuPaul; brother, Lynn Geyer; brothers-in-law, Jerome Streitz and Francis DuPaul.

Funeral: Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Minot.

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Monday from 3 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Vigil Prayer Service: Monday at 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: are preferred to the American Heart Association or the Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
