Keith Boitt, an Enbridge volunteer, cooks bratwurst at the Souris Valley United Way’s 2013 Campaign kickoff at the Arrowhead Shopping Center parking lot Tuesday at lunch time. “$5 gets you a burger or a hot-dog and for 2 bucks you can get another one, and the proceeds go to United Way, so it’s a great, great event,” said John MacMartin, the chair of the campaign. The campaign’s goal is $775,000, which will go to education, income and health initiatives in the region. “And we’ve got about 29 different programs that funding went to last year and the allocation committee will again be meeting this year as we go through the campaign to identify programs that meet the criteria and provide services in the area,” MacMartin said. This is the second year that Enbridge has volunteered to the effort. MacMartin said that Enbridge approached them to help. Anyone wishing to donate to the charity should contact them at 839-2994 or online (http://www.svunitedway.com).
