Their life was spent raising their children and farming small grains in Denmark Township. They retired in 1986 and moved to Minot. In 1969, Fran and Oliver began wintering in Mesa, Ariz., and continued to do so until 2009. Frances and Oliver celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary in the fall of 2012.

Fran lived life to the fullest, enjoying many activities, with family being the center of her life. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot. She was formerly an active member of the Carpio Lutheran Church, Trinity Lutheran and Nazareth Lutheran churches of Kenmare, being involved with teaching Sunday School and being a Sunday School superintendent, Luther League supervisor, serving on several committees, and singing in small groups and choir in the churches.

She was an active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood in Minot and Kenmare. She enjoyed many spectator sports, motorcycle and snowmobile rides, and camping with family and friends. In Arizona, she enjoyed ceramics, quilting, water aerobics, card playing and riding bicycle.
