Mildred "Millie" Sorg, 79, Minot, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013, at Trinity Homes in Minot.

Mildred Elizabeth "Millie" Peterson was born Feb. 5, 1934, in Minot, to Elias and Jennie (Berg) Peterson. She received education at the original Lincoln Elementary School and Minot Junior and Senior High School. Millie was the only person ever crowned twice as Minot High School's homecoming queen.

In her younger years she was very active in fastpitch softball. Her hobbies included bowling, gardening, camping, arts and crafts. Known as "Silly Millie" by her family and friends, she enjoyed playing the piano during family sing-alongs. In high school, Mildred worked at the Minot Drug Store.

She married Donald Parizek in 1952 in Minot, where they raised their three children. They were divorced in 1959. In 1955, Mildred was employed as a sales clerk at Parke Jewelry until the store closed in 1957. From 1957-1959, Millie was employed at I. Keating Furniture Store in Minot as an accounting technician. In July 1959, she accepted a civil service position at Minot Air Force Base. She helped open the doors for accounting and finance departments.

In 1962, Millie married Richard Sorg. Together they had four more children. They divorced in 1979. In 1970 she received the position of chief of accounts control until resigning in 1979. In 1981 Millie accepted a position in accounting at Ramstein Air Base in Germany and in 1983, she accepted a position at Minot AFB in accounting. In 1984, she worked as chief of accounts control at Lowry AFB in Denver. For a short time she worked at Defense Finance Accounting Service until her retirement in July 1994. After retirement, Millie moved back to Minot.

Millie was a former member of First Lutheran Church, Minot. She was a member of the Minot VFW Auxiliary Post #753 and NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) Chapter 1377.

Survivors include: her six children, Dennis (Judy) Parizek, Ogden, Utah, Marilyn (Chuck) Johnson, Minot, Sue (Steve) Bovee, Minot, Scott (Lori-Anne) Sorg, Centennial, Colo., Patrick Sorg and his girlfriend, Sheri Aberle, Minot, and Laura (Danny) McAnally, Westminster, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; sister, Lillian Olson, Minot; sister in-law, Judy Peterson, Minot; brother in-law, Gordon Ulberg, Berthold; and several nieces and nephews.

Mildred was preceded in death by: her parents; a son, Michael Sorg; a grandson, Steven Bovee Jr.; sisters, Gladys Lambert and Sylvia Ulberg; a brother, August Peterson; and brothers-in law, Harlan Olson and Eldon Lambert.

Funeral: Saturday, Aug. 24, at 10 a.m. at Northland Harvest Church, 140 Souris Drive, (east of the Ground Round), Minot.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Visitation: Today, Aug. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
