Kenneth J. Lundy

Kenneth J. Lundy, 92, Minot, passed away Aug. 17, 2013, with family close by at Trinity Health in Minot.

Kenneth was born May 20, 1921, in Duluth, Minn., the son of Adolph and Gudren (Moen) Lundy. He was raised and educated in Clearbrook, Minn.

Kenneth entered the Army in 1942. He served as sergeant for Company C of the 44th Tank Battalion. He received a Purple Heart and nine other medals and was honorably discharged in 1946.

On June 6, 1946, he married Laura Ramsrud in Crookston, Minn. Kenneth traveled a great deal for employment, moving from Langdon to Minot in 1956.

Kenneth, a bricklayer, now retired, was employed by Schoenrock Construction and Sons of Hazen, which was a Stone Mason, for many years, beginning as a youth in Minnesota. During his career he assisted in building churches throughout North Dakota, Montana and Minnesota. In 1973, Kenneth built a native stone obelisk, standing 7 feet by 7 inches, which was placed in the North Dakota Medal of Honor Grove Acre at the Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge, Pa. After retirement Kenneth worked as a custodian at the Ramada Inn and many side jobs that involved his passion (masonry).

From Sept. 8, 2010, to July 24, 2013, Kenneth resided at Edgewood Vista.

Kenneth was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #753, Our Redeemer's Church and the Salvation Army. At one time a certified mechanic, he loved to work on his vehicles, hunt, fish, and watch westerns. Kenneth reached the fifth generation with his family three times.

Kenneth is survived by: his three sisters, June (Lundy) Hendrickson, Hope (Lundy) Mungavan and Sharon (Lundy) Paone, all of Minnesota; sons, Richard (Donna) Lundy, Joel Lundy and companion Cheryl, and Dennis (Valmai) Lundy; daughters, Linda (Brian) Hicks, Vickie (Rodney) Larson, and Colleen Lundy.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his brothers, Newman, Gene, Grant, Eugene and Lee Lundy; and sisters, Arlene Lundy and Ruth (Lundy) Opine, all from Minnesota.

Funeral: Thursday, Aug. 22, 2013 at 10 a.m., in Our Redeemer's Church, Minot.

Burial: Thursday at Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot.

Visitation: Wednesday, Aug. 21, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
