The pool facilities at Roosevelt Park closed down for the season last Sunday.
"That's about a week earlier than we would have liked," said Minot's parks director, Ron Merritt, explaining that "the guards gave their notice and that was it." Apparently the pools in Bismarck had the same issue, and he chalks it up to the upcoming school year.
Its first year of operation since the 2011 flood was a successful one, with 11,671 walk-in admissions, 151 season ticket holders visiting "about 1,000" times, and another 1,000 or so free visits by the under-5s. After having to deal with some graffiti and pipe issues at the kiddie pool area earlier in the season, the pool is now considered fully restored.
"We'll start buttoning everything up," Merritt added, and "put it to bed for the winter." The pool is expected to reopen again next year at its usual time in June.
