Gene Colby, 64, Minot, passed away on Monday, Aug. 5, 2013, in his home, surrounded by his family.
Gene Walter Colby was born July 25, 1949, a son of Leo and Vivian (Holte) Colby, in Minot. He was raised on the family farm near Bergen, attending school in Bergen and graduating from Karlsruhe High School in 1966.
Gene worked various jobs throughout his lifetime. Most recently he was employed by Gravel Products as a truck driver, retiring for health reasons.
He enjoyed playing pool, the card game Smear, golfing, and watching the Minnesota Vikings and the Minnesota Twins. He touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by: Wife Sheri, Minot; brother, Wayne Colby, Clayton, Wash.; sister, Dolores (Leonard) Harstad, Williston; son, Cody (Julie) Colby, Minot; daughters, Jessie Colby, Minot, and Leia (Brian) Denny, Douglas, Wyo.; step-daughters, Tami (Duane) Foreid, Burlington, and Teri (Andy) Thiel, Minot; step-son, Tommy (Melia) Shaw, Minot; nine grandchildren with two more on the way. Several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation: Wednesday, August 7, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot
Funeral: Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, at 12:30 pm, at Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
Burial: A private committal service will take place at a later time.
