Cloa Wasson, 93, Minot, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 10, 2013, in her home in Minot.
Cloa Ann Dring was born April 12, 1920, the daughter of George and Madeline (Schneibel) Dring, on a farm near Velva. She was raised on the family farm and educated in Velva.
Cloa married her soulmate, Ray Orrin Wasson, on Sept. 9, 1941, in Velva. They made their home in Velva for several years. Together they owned and operated a small gas station before moving to Minot, where she worked as a cook for Bell School and later as a daycare provider for a few years.
She later moved to Portland, Ore., with her husband and two children, Wanda and LeRoy, where they resided for a short time. Ray passed away Jan. 19, 1999.
She served as a Girl Scout leader and was a member of The Rebekahs and Seventh-day Adventist Church in Minot. She also helped raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who meant the world to her.
Surviving family includes: son, LeRoy Wasson, Bottineau; daughter, Wanda Jean Schestler, Mandan; nephews whom she raised, Edward and Richard Gross; niece whom she raised, Marie Gross; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Esther Hillman, Minneapolis,and Pearl Eman, Minot.
Cloa was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; brothers, Wilmar, Robert, James and Walter Dring; and sisters, Gertrude Gross and Elizabeth Horner.
Funeral: Wednesday, July 24, at 10 a.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
Interment: Velva Community Cemetery, Velva.
Visitation: Today, Tuesday, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
