Marie was raised in Pierce County and attended Dewey School #2 and graduated from Barton High School in 1957. After completing her education she worked at the Good Samaritan Hospital as a nurse's aide in Rugby until she married.

In the fall of 1999, Marie entered the Heart of America Long Term Care Center in Rugby and in 2001 she moved to the Trinity Nursing Home in Minot for two years before moving back to Rugby.

At a very young age, Marie developed a strong faith in God. Through her faith, she demonstrated to all, love, compassion, and a listening ear. She touched the lives of many people. Marie strongly believed in the power of prayer and would ask us to go to the Lord in prayer.
