Verle Reinicke, 71, of Bismarck, formerly of Minot, passed away July 12, 2013, in Rochester, Minn. The Reinicke family will greet friends tonight, July 16, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bismarck. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, at the same location. There will not be a burial service as Verle chose to donate his body to science. A memorial space will be set up in lieu of a casket. Funeral attendees are encouraged to bring sentimental items to be placed in this memorial space.
Verle was born in Waterloo, Iowa, to Vernon and Louisa Reinicke, on April 30, 1942. He attended school in Grundy Center, Iowa. He graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, and Luther Theological Seminary in St. Paul, Minn.
He served as a Lutheran Pastor for 40 years in North Dakota in congregations in Alamo, Bismarck, Riverdale, Regent, Minot, and interim positions in other locations in North Dakota. In his retirement, he was the chairman of the North Dakota Resource Council and was an active environmentalist. He was an avid reader, a theological scholar, and an amateur photographer. He enjoyed classical music, opera, and film.
Verle was preceded in death by his father and mother, Vernon and Louisa Reinicke.
Verle is survived by: his four sons, Scott (Julie), Jeremy (Jennifer), Chris (Marea) and Justin: and his brother, Lynn (Jan): and his seven grandchildren, Abbey, Jaden, Braylee, Kyler, Katelyn, Alexis, and Elyssa; and his most significant companion for 40 years, Linda.
The Reinicke family requests that memorial gifts be made in Verle's name to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Luther Theological Seminary.
