MANDAREE (AP) - The body of a man thought to have drowned on Lake Sakakawea on June 22 has been recovered.
The Bismarck Tribune reports that the body was found Saturday evening in the area of Skunk Creek Bay, roughly five miles south of the Pouch Point boat ramp. That's the same general location where a Sidney, Mont., man was presumed to have drowned after falling out of a boat while fishing.
Mountrail County Sheriff Ken Halvorson says the 49-year-old man's name is not being released pending an autopsy and positive identification.
Officials say the area where the man went into the water is known for large boulders on the lake bottom. Access to the area also has been hampered by muddy conditions.
