It's a project that, honestly, we thought at times might never happen. And we're guessing we're not alone in that line of thinking.
The Minot Artspace Lofts project has been in the works for years, and has bounced between being a done deal and great uncertainty. But now the building is weeks away from its anticipated opening, and we couldn't be happier for the latest addition to downtown Minot.
The $9.4 million project is located at the corner of Main Street and Central Avenue. The new building has 34 one, two, and three-bedroom units, and rents for the units will be based on each tenant's income. Officials said they have received 27 applications from potential renters. Even though the building was constructed with artists in mind, officials say anyone is welcome to apply for residence in the building.
Construction is ahead of schedule, and organizers anticipate residents moving in to the building in mid-August. When that happens, perhaps a decade of work by a large number of people will come to fruition, and the opening of 34 affordable housing units couldn't come at a better time for Minot and its residents.
So, welcome to Minot, Artspace. We've been waiting for you.
