TOWNER The body of a 56-year-old Towner man who authorities have yet to identify was found in a sandy dugout on a cattle pasture five miles west of Towner at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the man was fixing the fence along the pasture when he began to travel south through a gate in a 2003 Arctic Cat 400 ATV. Tread marks on the ground indicate that the driver turned left in what appeared to be an attempt to make a U-turn before the right side of the vehicle dropped into the dugout, and then rolled over onto the man, pinning him.
The time of the accident and the time of death are unknown. The man was transported by ambulance directly to Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby.
