BATTLING THE BUGS Minot, Williston and other locations will get some help in battling pesky mosquitoes this summer after the Air Force Reserve Command approved requests for aerial spraying. The spraying is expected to take place at the end of June and in mid-July, according to the office of Sen. John?Hoeven, who had urged the command to spray non-federal lands while the Air Force Reserve will be in the area spraying federal land. We're happy with the announcement. Anyone who's been outside since the recent rains knows the mosquito problem first-hand. Aerial spraying will help get rid of the little blood-suckers, which helps prevent diseases such as West Nile Virus and others. The communities being sprayed will pay for the cost of chemicals, and the spraying will be used as a training mission for the Air Force Reserve's 910th (Airlift Wing). Until then, residents will no doubt continue to battle the annoying skeeters on their own, but at least we know there is help on the way.
