Dunn County Commissioners have hired a new sheriff, Clayton Coker, of Montana, who will begin work Monday, according to the interim sheriff, Matt Hegstad.
The position has been open since April 1, when Sheriff Don Rockvoy's resignation took effect and Hegstad became interim sheriff. Hegstad had been chief deputy under Rockvoy and was picked by him to be the temporary replacement.
Rockvoy had resigned to work as a truck driver in the oil patch. He was elected sheriff in 2009.
"I guess I'm kind of excited to relieve some of my administrative duties and excited to go on patrol again," Hegstad said of ending his stint as sheriff. "Other than that it's been a good experience."
