Alvin Fix, 74, of Harvey, died Friday, May 31, 2013, at the St. Aloisius Hospital of Harvey. Funeral services will be held at the St. Anthony Catholic Church of Selz on Monday, June 3, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. Visitation will be held at the Hertz Funeral Home of Harvey today, June 2, from 2 to 7 p.m. Prayer services will be held at the Hertz Funeral of Harvey today at 7 p.m. Burial will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Cemetery of Harvey.
Alvin was born Nov. 19, 1938, near Selz. He was the son of Joseph P. and Barbara (Schmaltz) Fix. He grew up and attended school near Selz.
Alvin married Frances Ripplinger on April 9, 1958, in Rugby. They lived in Harvey. Alvin worked for Bentz Implement and owned and operated Fix Diesel and Repair in Harvey. They moved to Warroad, Minn., in 1992 and both worked at Marvin Windows and Doors, retiring in 2006. They returned to Harvey in October 2007. Frances died on Nov. 6, 2008.
Alvin married Mary Roerick on May 14, 2010, in Harvey. They lived north of Selz. Alvin and Mary spent several winters in Arizona.
Alvin was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church of Selz and was also a member of the Wells Eagles Aerie 3080 in Harvey. Alvin was a past and honorary member of the Harvey City Volunteer Fire Department.
Alvin enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gardening and visiting with his many friends.
Alvin is survived by: his wife, Mary, of Selz; stepchildren, Kim (Kenny) Martin, of Ulysses, Kan., Dayna (Neil) Strecker, Fargo, Connie (Kevin) Connor, of Moorhead, Minn.; 12 stepgrandchildren; brother, Joseph Fix, of Lynnwood, Wash.; and sisters, Angie Goldade, of Minot, and Marlene Ripplinger, of Harvey.
Alvin was preceded in death by his parents; and first wife, Frances.
