Matthew Reile, 21, Minot, died unexpectedly Thursday, May 23, 2013.
Matt-hew Mark Reile was born on May 29, 1991, a twin son of Brian and Vicki (Geyer) Reile, in Minot. He was raised and educated in Minot, attending Lincoln Elementary, where he received the Character Counts award. Matthew attended Ramstad School and in 2009, graduated from Minot High School.
Matthew began his working career at Miracle Mart in the dairy section. He then took a position at Bechtold Paving, where he learned to be a concrete finisher.
He spent countless weekends at the family cabin at Lake Audubon, where he enjoyed pontoon rides; from this he developed a love of the outdoors, pursuing Canada geese, ducks, and pheasants and fishing for walleye and smallmouth bass.
Matthew was always making sure everyone was having a good time, and was right there to lend a helping hand. He enjoyed playing poker, card games, playing old Nintendo games, watching documentary shows on the History Channel and also the science channel, playing Frisbee golf, and all types of music. He was never shy to put others before himself. His favorite snacks were Oreos, Munchems, ramen noodles, and sunflower seeds.
Matthew was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, where he was confirmed. In his younger years he was involved in Cub Scouts while attending Lincoln School and took second place in the citywide pinewood derby competition. One of his greatest memories was being on the championship t-ball team with his closest friends.
Family was very important to Matthew, spending time with his parents and brothers doing all types of activities including riding bike, building forts, going to the movies or to the zoo. Matthew would spend time with Grandma Reile doing jigsaw puzzles. Matthew was a good storyteller and would always make sure to go into great detail with them. Matthew loved his pet cats.
Matthew is survived by: His parents, Brian and Vicki, Minot; brothers, Joshua Reile, and his twin, Michael Reile, both of Minot; aunts and uncles, Daryl (Cheri) Reile, Minot, Cindy (Tom Thorson) Thomas, Minot, Mike Geyer, Minot, and Mark (Jody) Bohan, of Laurel, Mont. Several cousins also survive.
Matthew was preceded in death by his grandparents, Reuben and Alice Reile, Tom and Vi Eidsness, and Henry Geyer; and also an aunt, Diane Geyer.
Funeral service: Thursday, May 30, 2013, at 10 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, Minot.
Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot
Visitation: Wednesday, May 29, from 2 to 7 p.m., at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
