MOHALL Lavern M. Hasby, 88, Mohall, passed to her new life on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at a Mohall nursing home.

Lavern Marion Folkers was born March 31, 1925, to Harm and Mary (Raaf) Folkers, in Tolley. She has one sister, Berniece Van Steenvoort, and had one brother, Ronald Folkers. She lived and worked in that area until she married Mentor Hasby on Nov. 11, 1945. They had two children, Darlene and Darvin.

She began working at Mohall Public Schools in 1982 and worked there until 2007 when ill health forced her retirement. After the death of Mentor in 2001, she moved to the senior apartments. In 2007, she moved to the Good Samaritan Society in Mohall.

Lavern was a member of Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church, rural Antler. Her most outstanding achievement was beating colon cancer. She was a 29-year survivor. Lavern especially enjoyed word search and auction sales. She always wore her rings, necklaces and lipstick.

Family: Lavern is survived by her daughter, Darlene (Milton) Munson, Midland, Ore.; son, Darvin Hasby, Midland, Ore.; granddaughters, Wendy (Bill) Munson Hales, Big Lake, Alaska, and Roshelle Munson, Klamath Falls, Ore.; and grandson, Brandon Hasby, Fargo; and great-grandchildren, Wesley and Ashley Hales, Big Lake, Alaska.

Lavern was preceded in death by her parents, Harm and Mary Folkers; brother, Ronald; and her husband, Mentor.

Funeral: Monday, May 20, at 10 a.m., at the Good Samaritan Society, Mohall.

Burial: Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church Cemetery, rural Antler.

Visitation: Sunday, noon to 5 p.m., at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall.
