Laura Wilson, 95, Berthold, passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at Souris Valley Care Center in Velva, surrounded by her loving family.

Laura Christine Griffin was born Dec. 29, 1917, the daughter of Elmer and Geneva (Forbregd) Griffin, near Des Lacs. She was raised and educated in Des Lacs, graduating from Des Lacs High School in 1935.

Laura married Herbert W. Wilson in Minot on July 9, 1938. They made their home in Williston until Herb joined the military service in World War II. Laura and their three children traveled around the states following Herb's military assignments.

After Herb's military career, they lived in Minot, Larimore and New Rockford before moving to Berthold in 1949, where they raised their family. She worked at Newberry's Department Store in Minot for over 10 years. Herb passed away in November of 1990. Laura then moved to Minot, where she resided until moving into the Souris Valley Care Center in the fall of 2008.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Berthold, the Berthold American Legion Auxiliary, the Minot Eagles Aerie Auxiliary and the Elks Auxiliary.

She enjoyed cooking, baking, her flower gardens, and watching Berthold and Velva sporting events. Laura especially enjoyed supporting the Velva American Legion and Velva High School baseball teams. She loved being surrounded by her whole family. They often enjoyed Sunday afternoon gatherings for chicken dinners in Berthold.

Her loving family includes: children, Pat (Gene) Buen, Velva, Jim (Sharon) Wilson, Bismarck, and Kathy (Joe) Baber, Garrison; seven grandchildren, Dan Buen, Dianna (Mark) Pollert, David (Renata) Buen, Keith (Julie) Wilson, Beth (Ray) Longo, Ryan (Kim) Wilson, and Sara (Jerome) Richter; 23 great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd (Janice) Anderson, Minot; sister, Inez (DuWayne) Glein, Minot; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Laura was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herb; son, Billy; sisters, Olive Pothen, Verna Borud, and Lillian Schultz; and brother, Dick Anderson.

Funeral: Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold.

Interment: Wildrose Cemetery, Berthold.

Visitation: Monday, May 13, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: Are preferred to Souris Valley Care Center.
