Minot Housing Authority is holding a lottery for a second block of 16 affordable housing units at Washington Townhomes in southeast Minot.
Sign up begins today at the housing authority office at 108 Burdick Expressway East. The office will continue to take applications through May 14 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays. A drawing for the each of the units will follow and lottery winners will be notified before the end of the month.
No documents need to be produced to apply, but lottery winners will have to complete interviews, background checks and other verifications to determine eligibility. The maximum income limit for eligibility is as follows: single household, $26,820; two-person, $30,660; three-person, $34,500; four-person, $38,280; five person, $41,400; six person, $44,460; seven-person, 47,520; and eight-person, $50,580.
Applicants who signed up in the lottery earlier this year for an initial 16 units will need to re-apply for this second lottery round.
The housing authority will be filling 10 two-bedroom units and six three-bedroom units. Four of the two-bedroom units are handicapped accessible. Monthly rents will be $398 or $650 for the various two- bedroom units and $795 for the three-bedroom units.
The housing authority has leased five of the 16 units that were part of the previous lottery. It continues to verify lottery winners and expects to have the other units filled by mid-June.
Construction will begin in late summer on the second phase of Washington Townhomes, which will have another 32 units when completed. The next lottery is expected to take place in the spring of 2014.
