BISMARCK - The Minot High School softball team gained momentum on the eve of its city-rivalry matchup with Bishop Ryan.
The Majettes (7-2 overall, 7-2 West Region) swept Bismarck High for two conference road wins Monday. MHS junior Lexi Benno was the winning pitcher in both games. MHS took game one 7-2 as four players had two hits apeice.
"We came out and we were swinging the bat fairly effectively," MHS coach Gerard Cederstrom said. "Bats were pounding the ball in game one and Lexi threw a good game. We just played steady."
The Majettes scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 3-2 win in game two. Freshman Haddie Lucy finished 3-for-3 in the second game.
"Game two, we just kind of grinded that out," Cederstrom said. "We manufactured the hits and ran the bases real well. She threw well both games and the girls played well tonight."
The Majettes host Ryan (5-1, 5-1) at 4:30 p.m. today at South Hill Complex.
