Sebastian Baverstam, winner of the 2009 Concert Artists Guild International Competition, will perform a program of cello classics at Minot State University's Ann Nicole Nelson Hall on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., presented by the International Artist Series of Minot.
The series has also sponsored a student outreach performance for this artist as part of their ongoing commitment to support arts education in the Minot area, and is also announcing its 2013-14 concert series. Baverstam made his debut to Harvard University faculty at the age of 6. Since that time he has astounded audiences with his technical skills and artistic prowess in high profile performances, including "From the Top" (PBS), Weills Hall (Carnegie), Lincoln Center and the "Theatre des Champs Elysees" (Paris). In addition to the Concert Artist Guild honors, Baverstam is the winner of the 2006 Harvard Music Association Young Artists Award and "New Artist of the Month" for June 2011 for "Musical America."
Now 23, Baverstam is committed to performing music written by living composers. He has performed at festivals around the world and has participated in master classes with Frans Helmerson, Orlando Cole, Pieter Wispelwey and Bernard Greenhouse. Baverstam continues to study with mentor Paul Katz at the New England Conservatory in Boston.
