A.D. "Boot" Schwartz, 92, Bismarck, formerly of Kenmare, died Thursday, March 21, 2013, in a Bismarck hospital.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 26, at 11 a.m. at Faith Baptist Church in Kenmare, with the Rev. John Fetterhoff officiating. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Kenmare at a later date. Visitation will be Tuesday, one hour prior to the service, at the church.

A.D. was born southwest of Kenmare, N.D., to Jacob and Tessie (Ankenbauer) Schwartz, on Nov. 29, 1920. Boot grew up working on the family farm while attending school, and began investing in his own nearby home and farm. Boot loved his family and was a farmer at heart caring for the land and his crops.

Boot married Amy Waters on Feb. 17, 1946, at Salina, Kan. They resided on their farm west of Kenmare, where they raised five children and continued to build their business.

He was a charter member and Trustee of Faith Baptist Church for many years. He was also a supervisor on the Elmdale Township Board and was active in maintaining the local roads. In September 1996 Boot and Amy retired and moved to Kenmare, where they resided until his death at St. Alexius Hospital in Bismarck, N.D., on March 21, 2013.

Surviving family includes: his wife, Amy, Bismarck; his children, Dustin (Kathy), Lumberton, of Texas, Coral (Sam) Kora, Montgomery, Ala., and Timothy (Doreen), Kenmare; sons-in-law, Mark Peterson, Bismarck, and Jim Carlson, Kenmare; his remaining brother, Otis (Vangie) Schwartz, Garrison, N.D.; many nieces, nephews and cousins; grandchildren, Dawn (Chris) Haqq, Beaverton, Ore., Keiko Kora, Montgomery, Ala., Michael Kora (Merideth), Calera, Ala., Paul (Joy) Kora, Montgomery, Ala., Allison (Billy) Bullard, Edmond, Okla., and ReNae Snustad, Graham (Mica) Peterson, and Kimberly (Mark) Beiber, all of Bismarck. Additionally there are 13 great-grandchildren and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

A.D. was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Nancy Carlson and Phyllis Peterson; and his brothers and sisters, Earl, Owen, Clarence, Ralph, Hazel Engelman, Orpha Clark, Evelyn McGillvary, and Opal Townsend.

A.D. lived his life as Micah 6:8..What does your Lord require of you. To act justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.
