Keith Rensland, 54, Minot, longtime owner of the Magic Man, died unexpectedly Thursday, Feb. 28, 2013, in a Minot hospital.

Keith Michael Rensland was born on May 21, 1958, a son of Donovan and Phyllis (Thorson) Rensland, in Virginia, Minn. He was raised and educated on the Iron Range in Babbitt, Minn., graduating from Babbitt High School in 1976. Following graduation, he furthered his education by attending Moorhead State Technical College, where he received a commercial arts degree.

Keith was united in marriage to Julie Ficken on June 21, 1980, in Ada, Minn. They lived on the Rensland farm, before moving to Bismarck. While in Bismarck, Keith was the manager of United Furniture Sales. In 1980 his first son, Travis Rensland, was born. In 1985, he started Unique Designs in Bismarck. In 1986 his second son, Brandon Rensland, was born. He and his partner moved Unique Designs to Minot in 1987. In November 1990, Keith and Julie sold Unique Designs and started the Magic Man Inc. They worked in various locations throughout the Minot area. In 2004, they added Backyard Brewing Supplies and recently opened up Dakota Prairie Winery.

Keith enjoyed camping, fishing, riding his motorcycle and traveling. He was active in many organizations, especially the Boy Scouts, where he assisted with patches and clothing. He was a charter member of the motorcycle riding Lions Club called The Knight Riders.

Keith is survived by: his wife of 33 years, Julie Rensland of Minot; sons, Travis (Lisa) Rensland, Sioux Falls, S.D., Brandon Rensland of Minot; mother, Phyllis Rensland, Mesa, Ariz.; three sisters, Cheryl (Dr. Luis) Saldana, of Dallas, Gail (Steve) Timbeross, Rochester, Minn., and Karen (Joel) Darnell, Chatfield, Minn.; three dogs, Rudy, Jasmine and Bella; and several aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Keith was preceded in death by: his father, Donovan Rensland; infant brother, David Rensland; uncle, Ordell Rensland; and grandparents, Gilbert and Blanche Rensland and Roy and Adeline Thorson.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, March 5, at 1 p.m. at Our Redeemer's Lutheran Brethren Church, Minot.

Burial: Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Buxton.

Visitation: Monday, March 4, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
