On Nov. 20, 1947, he was married to Theola "Dolly" Buchmiller Somerville in McClusky. They spent the next 18 years on their farm just north of Bowdon. Stanley always said the farm was a good place to raise a family.

Following his retirement in 1980, Stanley enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and other important events that needed taking care of. They spent the next 14 winters enjoying the sun and warm climate of Arizona.

In 1984, wanting to be closer to their children and grandchildren, they moved to Minot, where they became members of Zion Lutheran Church, the Moose Lodge and the Golden Kiwanis Club. They learned to enjoy life in a little bigger city.

Following Dolly's death in 2006, Stanley remained in Minot until moving to West Fargo in September 2010, where he resided at Eventide Sheyenne Crossing retirement home. On June 10, 2012, he moved to Alexandria, Minn., and had resided at the Grand Arbor retirement home since.

He is survived by: his sister, Christine Thormodsgard, of Sioux Falls, S.D.; daughter, Cathy (John) Filler, of Miles City, Mont.; two sons, Allen (Coty) Lund, of Alexandria, Minn. and Jerry (Janice Sedivec) Lund, of West Fargo; stepson, Dean (Diana) Somerville, of Minot; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
