Elsie Elizabeth Sink Ihmels, 95, of Colorado Springs, Colo., died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at Springs Village Care Center in Colorado Springs, surrounded by her family.
Elsie was born Nov. 26, 1917, to William Homer and Eva Sink, in Northstar Township.
She was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Wilfred; and 11 of her 12 siblings.
Her survivors include: her brother, Harold Sink (Marian) of Lodi, Calif.; daughters, Marie Hoepner (Edward) of Colorado Springs and Eva Dahlberg (Ellwood) of Shoreview, Minn.; three sons, Wendell (Cheryl) of Edmonds, Wash., Ronald (Linda) and Blair (Nancy) of Bismarck; 15 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Elsie grew up on a farm in rural Burke County and attended Bystedt School and Bowbells Public School. She married Wilfred Ihmels on Nov. 10, 1942, at Niobe Baptist Church, in Niobe, where they were longtime members. She and Wilfred farmed and raised their five children in rural Bowbells Township until they moved to Kenmare where Elsie was employed by the Baptist Home as a cook. She spent her retirement years in Colorado Springs and was a member of Faith Evangelical Free Church.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial celebration that will be held at Faith Free Evangelical Church in Colorado Springs on March 16 at 11 a.m. A celebration luncheon will follow.
Interment will occur later at the Bowbells Cemetery.
