Jeanette E. Schlenker, 83, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 30, 2013, at Eventide at Hi-Acres in Jamestown.
Jeanette Bakken was born Sept. 2, 1929, at Drake, the daughter of Casper C. Bakken and Sadeth (Hannenberg) Bakken. She received her education at the Drake Public School and graduated from Minot High School.
She and Jack Schlenker were married Dec. 27, 1949, in Minot. They made their home in Jamestown. She worked at Farmers Union, the Human Service Center and was also a stay-at-home mom. Following the death of her husband in 2005, she continued to reside in Jamestown.
She was a member of the Basilica of St. James in Jamestown. She was also on the CCD Board and was a CCD teacher. She also co-chaired two bazaars with Loraine Kauphusman.
She enjoyed playing Bridge and spending time at the lake with her family.
She is survived by: 1 son, Jon (Peg) Schlenker, Spiritwood Lake, N.D.; 1 daughter, Jan (Gary) Haut, Jamestown; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer (Gary) Schmidt; Jill Schlenker, all of Jamestown, Michael Opp, Fargo; 2 great-grandchildren, Corinne and Elise, both of Jamestown, and a special friend, Jim Harty, Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Funeral service: Will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, at the Haut Funeral Chapel in Jamestown, with Fr. Al Bitz officiating.
Interment: Will be at the Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown.
Visitation: Sunday, Feb. 3, from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
