A recent story headlined "The USPS is near ruin" tells us the significant things "wrong" with the postal service. The mandate to deliver mail six days a week is one of their many core problems. Then the statement is made: Congress has to rethink the business model (or some such cover all statement).
These challenges are not new. The challenges faced by the USPS are a decade old. Yet what is done by Congress? Nadda! Zippo!
This is an excellent example of our government's inbred inefficiencies and inability to look at the sun rising in the east and setting in the west and recognize this scientific fact. Our elected officials "messed" up Social Security to such a point that its very survival is in question, all the while ringing up a horrendous debt. And there are actually people out there that think this same esteemed common sense lacking group can run our health care system? Go figure!
