Arlles Rose, daughter of Albert and Hilda Young, was born March 12, 1924. She grew up and attended school in Foothills Township, north of Powers Lake.

She married John Rose, of Lignite, on Nov. 17, 1945. They made their home north of Flaxton, where they farmed and raised their two daughters, JoAnn and Sandra. Her husband, John, passed away in March 1978. Arlles remained on the farm until 1980 and then moved into Flaxton. She spent many winters in Quartzsite, Ariz. She moved to Minot in 2004.

In her late teens she moved to California to work for Lockheed Martin during World War II. She returned to North Dakota due to an illness in the family. After getting married she worked on the family farm and raised her two daughters. In addition to her two daughters she also helped raise several other children in the area.

Arlles lived life with a lot of spirit and loved singing and dancing. In fact you could often find her dancing with the girls in the kitchen when a good song came on the radio. She was active in the community, often cooking and sewing dresses for others. She even did some upholstery work for neighbors. She loved to have fun and would attend local dances, go bowling and play softball and basketball. She also enjoyed playing cards. She was an avid Minnesota Twins fan.

Arlles was preceded death by her parents; her husband, John; four brothers, Julian, Vergil, Darrell and Marvin; and a granddaughter.

She is survived by: two daughters, JoAnn Cose, of Minot, and Sandra (Cecil) Williams, of Marshall, Mo.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Arlles passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, in Minot at the age of 88.

Her funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 26, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Springan Funeral Home in Stanley.

Burial will be in the spring in the Flaxton Cemetery.

Visitation is at the funeral home today, Friday, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday prior to the service.
