Arnold Joseph Bakke, 79, Mesa, Ariz., formerly of the Lignite area, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, in his home.
He was born May 23, 1933, to Lewis and Bessie Bakke, in Lignite. Arnold attended school at Lignite and Portal. He joined the Air Force in 1951 and served four years in Alaska.
In 1955, he started working as an electrician in New Jersey. He retired in 1990 and moved to Williston and later to Burlington, and spent winters in Mesa, Ariz.
He was once married to Ann Case in New Jersey and to this union Arnold Jr. and Russell were born.
Arnold was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lucille, and her husband, Marvin Young; brother, Orine, and wife, Virginia; and brother, Lawrence.
Surviving are: his two sons, Arnold Jr. (Leslie), St. Pauls, N.C., Russell Sr. (Wendy), Columbia, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Corrina, Justina, Russell Jr., Cassandra, Erik; five stepgrandchildren, Justin, Derek, Cody, Kimberly and Jeremy; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma (John) Bakke, Burlington, and Mildred Berg, Williston; and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and burial will be held at Lignite in the spring.
