Evelyn Preston, 83, Minot, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, in a Rugby nursing home.
Evelyn Muriel Stults was born Oct. 12, 1929, in Ryder, the fourth of six children to Charles and Ruth (Croy) Stults. She was raised on the family farm and attended school in Ryder.
Evelyn married Thomas "Tom" Preston on Oct. 20, 1947, in Minot. Following their marriage they lived in the Pick City area, where he worked on the Garrison Dam project. They later moved to Minot, where they raised their three daughters. Tom and Evelyn moved to Brentmoor in September 2006 and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on Oct. 20, 2007. Evelyn's family was her life. She loved making a home for them, sewing, cooking and baking. Going fishing with her husband was a favorite pastime. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She and Tom loved attending all their grandchildren's sporting activities. There wasn't anything that she wouldn't do to help her family. A ride to school, a babysitter for a sick child, or an afternoon playmate, Grandma was always there.
