CROOKSTON, Minn. - Minot High junior Makaila Anderson posted a hat trick Thursday to lead the Majettes past Mandan 5-1.
MHS coach Weylin Wahlstrom has tried putting Anderson and senior Jessie Kongelf - the Majettes' leading scorer - on different lines, but found they worked well together against Mandan. Kongelf scored a goal and assisted on one of Anderson's.
"We came back and we decided to put (Anderson) and Jessie together and they really clicked well together tonight," Wahlstrom said. "They were capitalizing on their chances in front of the net and really forcing the other team to make a lot of mistakes in the neutral zone."
Junior Alaynee Thompson also scored for MHS (6-3) and freshman Sydney Boyce tallied two assists.
MHS plays East Grand Forks (Minn.) at 5 p.m. today.
