Raymond Streifel, 87, of Esmond, passed away Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Trinity Medical Center in Minot.

Raymond Streifel was born Oct. 10, 1925, on the family farm near Buffalo Lake in Alexander Township, rural Esmond, to Joseph and Ottilia (Wentz) Streifel. He was raised there and attended the township school. Raymond married Mary Schan on June 21, 1954, at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Minot. They farmed and had dairy cattle for a number of years. Raymond drove school bus for the Esmond school for 47 years. The couple moved into Esmond in 1993.

Raymond was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, a life member of the Knights of Columbus and the Harvey Eagles. He enjoyed growing flowers, whistling and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Surviving are: his wife, Mary of Esmond; his children, Elaine (David) Braaten of Minot, Janet Dosch of Minot, Patrick (Pam) Streifel of Prior Lake, Minn., Alan (Theresa) Streifel of West Fargo, Gerard (Kathleen) Streifel of Phoenix, Ariz., and Darin (Julie) Steifel of Barnesville, Minn.; 12 grandchildren, Dawson Streifel, Austin Streifel, Ryan Dosch, Travis Braaten, Evan Streifel, Scott Braaten, Coty Dosch, Rylee Streifel, Tyler Streifel, Melissa Braaten, Amelia Wegscheid and Mackenzie Streifel; 17 great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Donna Streifel and Helen Streifel, both of Devils Lake; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by: his parents; and siblings, Frances Scheer, Margaret Walter, Verna Stanfield, John, Nick and Tom Streifel.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, Dec. 27, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Esmond.

Burial: Will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation: Wednesday at the church from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with a 6:30 p.m. rosary service followed by a 7 p.m. parish vigil, all in the church.
