Pronghorn antelope have become so few in number in North Dakota in recent years that the pronghorn hunting season has been closed. The pronghorn population has been slow to rebound following a series of difficult winters. A determination on whether or not to hold a pronghorn hunting season in 2013 has not yet been made. More will be known about pronghorn numbers following aerial surveys next summer. This photograph was taken Dec. 8 east of Audubon National Wildlife Refuge. There were seven pronghorns in the band.
