December 21, 2012
Minot Daily News

BISMARCK (AP) - A Louisiana man has turned down an offer to be the new Bismarck police chief.

The Bismarck Tribune reports that West Monroe, La., Police Chief Christopher Elg declined the offer by the Bismarck City Commission on Thursday.

Bismarck Deputy Police Chief Dan Donlin has been named as an alternate candidate. Commissioner Parrell Grossman says he will recommend Donlin for the post.

Donlin says he would accept.

The salary package offered to Elg was not released. The maximum salary advertised earlier for the new chief was just more than $97,000.
