Roger Wahus, Minot
I suspect that my words will fall on deaf ears, but I am going to air my frustrations anyway.
Up until recently I was able to walk my small dog (about 4 pounds) in the city cemetery on 11th Avenue Southeast. I always carry the necessary tools to clean up after, if needed.
One day there were signs saying "No dogs allowed."
This is so frustrating and wrong. For years I have walked my dog in this cemetery. I now have to resort to walking her on the sidewalks or streets and am exposing her and myself to the heavy traffic at every intersection.
Let's be real about this. There are very few of us who don't clean up after our dogs. Shame on them who don't. We have homeless dogs, deer and wild turkeys who roam the cemetery at night and leave deposits, yet they are protected.
My taxes and the taxes of all dog owners help to keep up these city properties yet our pets are banned from them.
Fellow dog owners please speak up. Maybe we can convince our city fathers to re-consider and give us back our rights.
