Luella "Lu" Burrowes, age 81, of Underwood, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at a Bismarck hospital.
Lu was born on June 16, 1931, in Washburn, to Reinhold and Helen (Johnson) Goehring. She married William "Bill" Burrowes on Jan. 21, 1950. Lu worked at the Park Inn Cafe for many years until she took a position at the Underwood Public School as a cafeteria cook. She loved her job at the school. She enjoyed being around children and being able provide them a good meal. She was active in many different activities within Augustana Lutheran Church and was an active member of the Underwood senior citizens group.
Lu is survived by: her three children, Mike (Faith) Burrowes and Kevin Burrowes, all of Billings, Mont., and Sandra (Jim) Peterson of Washburn; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Kris Burrowes of Stanton; two sisters, Gladys Freidig of Bismarck and Janice Blegen of Minneapolis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William "Bill"; one son, Terry; one brother, Quentin; one sister, Wanda; and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 18, at 2 p.m. at Augustana Lutheran Church in Underwood with Pastor Anna Haugen officiating.
Interment will follow in the Underwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be held today, Monday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Goetz Funeral Home in Underwood.
