Carl Anderson, 92, Carpio, entered into eternal life and went to be with his loving wife, Berniece, Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, in his home, surrounded by his loving family.

Carl E. Anderson was born Feb. 6, 1920, the son of Rasmus and Karie (Vaagen) Anderson, in Minot. He was raised on a farm in Plain Township of Renville County, near Carpio, and educated at a rural country school near the farm. As a young adult, Carl assisted his parents with the operation of the family farm.

Following the death of both his parents, he continued the daily operation of the family farm. He then became a caregiver to his sister, Esther, and niece, Roberta, during this time. Carl later went to work for the Civilian Conservation Corps building the Upper Souris National Wildlife Refuge.

During this time, he also drove school bus for the school. Together, they were employed by the Carpio School as custodians until the school closed in 1991.

Berniece passed away Feb. 5, 2006. Following his wife's death, Carl continued to reside in Carpio.

He was a member of Carpio Lutheran Church and Town and Country Sportsman's Club, for whom he helped raise pheasants.

He enjoyed tending to his horses, gardening, building bird houses and feeders, as well as feeding birds. He was an avid Minnesota Twins and Minnesota Vikings fan.

A special thank you to Mary and Rusty Hansen and Candy Linder for their friendship throughout the years.

His loving family includes: children, Duane (Colleen) Anderson, Minot, Paulette Meland, Minot, Joyce (Gary) Tudahl, Berthold, Charlene (Robert) DeMaria, Bismarck, and Loretta (Merlin) Routledge, Minot; 13 grandchildren, Nadine (Steve) Butts, Nathan (Brandy) Anderson, Kari (Shane) Block, Kevin (Shawnya) Meland, and Karmen (Shane) Peterson; Joshua Tudahl and his fiancee, Katie Snellings, Scott Tudahl, Shannon (Karen) Tudahl, Jessica (Eric) Lee, Erin and Rachael DeMaria; and Will and Kyle Routledge; 19 great-grandchildren, Lucas, Anika, and Marcus Butts, Blaise and Brock Anderson, Ethan and Bailey Block, Jacob, Hailey, and Kaden Meland, Sophie, Ruby, Danton and Grady Peterson, Kayla, Gavin, and Liam Tudahl, and Dane and Owen Lee; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
