Ruth C. Lindlauf, 96, Velva, went home to her Lord on Dec. 9, 2012. She was a resident of Souris Valley Care Center in Velva.

Ruth Charlotte Schmidt was born Nov. 23, 1916, a daughter of Carl Frederick and Mary Oral (Williams) Schmidt, on the William Schmidt Sr. farm near Kongsberg. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kongsberg, and on June 7, 1939, was united in marriage to Edwin F. Lindlauf in the church.

Following their marriage, the couple made their home on the Lindlauf family farm, near Kongsberg, where Ruth was a homemaker. Together they raised three children, Carl A., Norma R., and Emily C. In 1967, Ruth and Edwin retired from farming.

Following retirement, the couple served on a mission of love for 10 years at Bethesda Lutheran Home for the Handicapped in Watertown, Wis. Edwin passed away Nov. 1, 1988.

Following his death, Ruth continued on in their home in Watertown, Wis. She then moved to Tucson, Ariz., for a period of two years followed by a return to Wisconsin to a retirement community in Lake Mills. She remained there until her move to Souris Valley Care Center in Velva to be closer to family, friends and the home of her birth.
